Tamara joined the Person Family Behavioral Health Center on Monday, June 17, 2019. She currently lives in Durham, NC with her family.
Tamara Starr is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Family Nurse Practitioner.
She received her bachelor’s from Central University in Nursing where she worked as a floor nurse for 15 + years at various facilities.
She later obtained her master’s degree at Duke University 2003 as a Family Nurse Practitioner, progressing through a post graduate degree from UNC Chapel Hill in Mental Health by 2011.
She has been in mental health field in the community, inpatient and outpatient settings since 2005. Including University of Texas Medical Branch in the state jail, Veterans Administration hospital and private practices. She provides psychiatric evaluations, psychotropic Medication management, counseling, advice, and education, from ages 4 to 90 years of age.
Ms. Starr believes that mental health is her “calling” and purpose from God and that every problem has a solution.
Her goal is always to be a Blessing and help to everyone she meets!!
Tamara enjoys cooking, hiking, traveling, Girl Scouts and spending time with her family.
Tamara is looking forward to bringing her extensive nursing experience, teaching, mental/ behavioral health and medication management expertise to the Person County community.
